Been digging through the depths of the web a lot lately. I've been coming across a lot of new tunes I'm more than excited about. I have a few minutes before I make the trek to work and spend the first half of my day cleaning some unidentifiable pile of food out of some body's '97 Ford Taurus, and wanted to share some with all of you.
First, we have Opiuo (http://www.myspace.com/opiuo) This dudes production is so tight, and funky, I can't take it. We had recently reached out to him to do a remix, but time was a big constraint. As bummed as I am about that, I'm even more excited to work with him in the future. In the meantime, check out his work, definitely tasty. He has a free EP on bandcamp, as well as a newer EP for 5 or 6 bucks, that slays, get them both.
Secondly, we have Deru (http://www.myspace.com/iamderu) I heard of this dude through a shout out that Glitch Mob gave him a while back. Since then he has recently released an album I just picked up. His style is way more laid back, and intricate. He's definitely on some night drive shit. The sounds are over saturated, super compressed, and sometimes swung so hard they may sound out of tempo to the novice ear. He definitely gives a nod to Flying Lotus, with the super swung, high end, clicky percussion, but to me, its a bit more listenable. Don't get me wrong, I loooove Flying Lotus. And to me, they coined this sound, and I think Deru has a little bit to go before he's on that level, but sometimes by the time minute 13 rolls by on the same Lotus track, I sometimes drift away from the music. Anyway, love this stuff, and stoked to see what he has for us in the future.
Oh, and speaking of the Glitch Mob, who has heard their new track? Search it on hypemachine, that shit's everywhere. I have to be completely honest here, I'm a little bummed out, as are a lot of fans. Not totally, by no means does it suck. Hear me out. I feel like there are a lot of people that are missing all the super technical glitched out fun. That is, after all that the Glitch Mob coined over the past few years. After reading a few different comments the group has made since its release, it is apparent they are not trying to be known as a group that revolves around the glitch. They don't even take credit for starting "glitch hop" or any of the million terms you may have for it, noting countless acts that used that style before them.
I back that, I totally do, you don't have to completely fuck something up to make it awesome. I just feel like with all the buzz around them right now, now was the time to drop the nastiest shit EVER. those dudes are on fire right now, been touring around for last few years, put out a ridiculous mixtape, just all around killing it. Its finally deput album time, and I feel like they put out something that could be amazing, but feels like a rushed hip hop beat that no one had time to record vocals over. Its good, it is, better than anything I can do. But I guess I just put these guys on such a high pedestal. I really thought this new material was going to blow my face off. Oh well, I still love the group and what they do, and I'm still bumping this tune out of my moms 30 dollar computer speakers, serenading the retirees across the street as they clean up their gardens. I still anxiously await they release of their album, and you damn well know I'll be front and center getting my head nod on when they come to NYC next month.

This is how I feel to you guys. I want to help monetarily, but I do not know how it will all play out. I have written like 3 messege/comments to innerparty and only one of them has been sent.
I fear what your reactions will or will not be.
If you are interested in hearing my idea, make a twitter post saying "jstuever, we are interested."
It is worth while, and if i see that post, i will make a new forum topic out of my idea(s).
All the best and all the luck in the world, Jon S.
